[2008/07/01] Release of beta version OpenMesh 1.9.6. This release includes the port to qt4, some bugfixes in the reader and gcc-4.3 compatibility.
[2007/09/28] We now have a mailinglist for OpenMesh. See the contact page for details.
[2007/05/22] Release of beta version OpenMesh 1.9.5. This release fixes two minor bugs. Furthermore, the license has been changed to LGPL 2.1.
[2007/02/26] OpenMesh 1.1.0 released. This is mainly a bug-fix release. See the version history for details.
[2006/10/13] Release of beta version OpenMesh 1.9.4 (compiler support). This release adds support for the GNU C++ compiler version 4.1. This version is considered stable enough for the beta status (no major bugs found since more than a year).
[2006/06/13] Release of alpha version OpenMesh 1.9.3 (compiler support). This release extends the support for the GNU C++ and Microsoft Visual C++ compilers. The supported compilers are:
  1. GNU C++ 3.3.x, 3.4.x, 4.0.x
  2. Miscrosoft Visual C++ .NET 2003, .NET 2005 (thanks to Künzler Urs for the .NET 2005 patch)
[2006/02/28] Release of alpha version OpenMesh 1.9.2 (bug-fixes). This release contains fixes of several bugs discovered in OpenMesh 1.9.1.
  1. Microsoft Visual Studio project files now contain the complete Core and Tools parts of OpenMesh.
  2. Fixed bug related to color reading in the IO of OBJ files (thanks to David Vanderhaeghe).
[2005/09/20] Release of alpha version OpenMesh 1.9.1. This is the first external release of the second version of OpenMesh. These releases will be marked with the numbers 1.9.x. It contains several important changes/restrictions with respect to OpenMesh 1.
  1. No face/vertex/(half)edge traits are anymore supported. Please, use mesh properties instead. However, geometry types for points/normals/etc. can still be customized.
  2. OpenSG is no longer internally supported. Anyone is free to add OpenSG support as an external patch and provide/maintain it separately.
  3. The mesh connectivity is now templates-free, which results in much faster compilation times especially for algorithms such as simplification/remeshing/etc.
  4. Mesh connectivity classes can be now used separately from the mesh geometry, which simplifies certain algorithms design and reduces compile-time dependencies.
At this point we do not supply any documentation for this release. Support will be provided during the next few months by e-mail.
[2005/09/20] Release of final version OpenMesh 1.0.0. Note that this will be the last version supporting OpenSG. From now on we are starting a new, slightly restructured version 2.x, which drops OpenSG support and hence simplifies the core data structures.

[2004/01/09] Preview on documentation of Tool is on-line. (Only Decimater and Stripifer, Subdivider, VDPM follows.)
[2004/01/08] Preview on documentation of the Core is online. The most important stuff is documented.
[2004/01/05] Download the missing file 'porting.txt' in OpenMesh 1.0.0-beta3 from here. (Still working on documentation... :-( )
[2003/12/04] OpenMesh 1.0.0-beta3 fixes a few bugs found in beta2 related to the OpenSG integration.
(The release of the documentation had to be postponed. It will be ready approx. before christmas)
