Physically Based Animation and Special Effects

The aim of this practical course is the creation of a demo application showing a physically plausible simulation of real world objects. In recent movies like the Star Wars movies, James Bond, Indiana Jones and Pirates of the Caribbean computer graphics techiques are used to create special effects for fire, smoke, fluids or to mimic the behaviour of cloth, rigid or deformable bodies. In this course you will learn how to implement one of the recent methods for simulating real world objects and by using latest Real-Time Computer Graphics and 3D Graphics Engine Design you will create your own special effect!

Requirements:

  • Good C++ programming  experience
  • Preferable: knowledge of OpenGL, Qt, Linux

Possible Topics:

Fluids

Smoke and Fire Simulation

Cloth Simulation
